An abandoned house, a historic morgue, and footsteps coming from inside a building that appeared completely sealed. Today, we'll hear about a group of friends that explore a forgotten property in Rancho Cucamonga, California, only to encounter strange noises, violent banging from within the house, and an eerie feeling that followed them long after they left. I don't even know how to twin. It's just a tall black figure and I've never seen anything like this before, and it's just tapping. I can see it tapping. I just book it out. At first, it sounded like simple footsteps. Then came a violant bang against the window from inside an empty house. Years later, memory still remains. My name is Edwin, and here is Josh's true scary story. When I was seven years old, my parents got divorced. They separated, and then my dad got an apartment. My sister and I my little sister and I would go visit him during the weekends, like Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday, and he'll take it to school on Monday. I met a bunch of friends. One of them I was like his first friend. He came from LA I'll just say his name's Johnny. It's unfortunate I don't talk to him anymore, but at the time we were just like we're. Just best friends, you know. Him and I would walk around the city venture Cucamonga, that's where the apartments were, and we would just walk around at night or just during the day on the weekend, just being middle schoolers, you know, being kids. Down the street of this apartment complex, there was a big piece of land. You know, everything's all touched up, you know, around this piece of land, you know there's green grass, you know, there's new houses, and then just this one piece of land is just run down, like it's just abandoned. I don't know why, but it is. On this piece of land, there's a morgue and it's like right at the corner of the street. It's like abandoned. It's like vacant. I don't know if people like take care of it or anything, but sometimes, like at night, the lights are on inside and the curtains open sometimes, but it looks pretty boarded up. And on this piece of land there's that morgue, and next to the morgue there's a house and a bandon house. It's got like an abandoned tractor, an old gravel drive away, and there's like a garage. Johnny and I were just like, oh, you know, let's go get a bunch of other people, you know, a bunch of our friends, and let's go explore. We got a bunch of people. It's like me and Johnny and like four other of our friends, and we're just like, oh, let's go. Walk down to this house. Let's go, let's go explore. You know, we're being kids, you know, we just wanted to go explore an abandon in abandon home. So we walk down there. It's it's hot. It's a hot day. All the dead grass is like giving off the heat. You know, it's just a hot day. We see the garages open, and we just go inside the garage. You know, we're just looking around. There's a bunch of old clothes everywhere. There's toys, you know, there's a basketball. We're throwing the ball around. You know, we're exploring. You know, we're having a great time. I see the house and I'm just like, okay, I want to go look around and see if we can get inside the house. You know, everyone walks around the house and then we notice everything is boarded up, like it's just got that wood that just you know, you board something up and it's really thick and it's like hard. It's all around the house. It's on the doors, the windows, everything, like we just cannot get inside. We just keep looking. We're just like, okay, there's got to be an entrance. I noticed there's a piece of that wood. It's like someone track breaking in, like they just cut a piece open to where like you can fit your arm in and just that's it. And then you can also look inside. So I'm looking inside and I have my flashlight on my phone on. I see like a table, a chair, I see see like beer bottles in there, you know, cans plates, you know, just old paper plates. I try, you know, opening you know, that little window open, and it's hard. I can't. And then all of a sudden, I hear like. Movement, like I hear footsteps, you know, like like feet shuffling. I look inside, and I thought, maybe it's a homeless person. If it's a homeless person, then we need to leave. You know, that's their home. We're disturbing them. You know, they could be dangerous. Someone calls me over to the garage. So I was just like, okay, I'm just gonna let it be. You know, maybe I'm hearing things I don't know. So I go to the garage. You know, all my friends find like this doll. They're just like, oh, it's creepy. It's creepy. And I was like, hey, yeah, but look, come look at this, you know, look at the house. You know, I heard something. I heard something, So everyone gets excited. As soon as I say I heard something inside the house, Everyone's like, oh, okay, okay, let's go to go. We go back to the house and I tell them look inside the house and see if. You hear anything. We didn't hear anything for like ten minutes, so then I was just like, okay, let's pack it up. You know this is boring now, let's let's just go. As we're leaving, I hear movement inside the house again, feet shuffling. I go to one of the border windows and I put my ear next to it and I tell everyone, I go, you know, be quiet, you know. Let's let's listen. Probably about like a couple of minutes, I don't hear anything, and then I knock on the window. I just remember it so vividly on the inside of the house. I knock right and on the inside the house, right next to my. Ear is just a big old bang, like. Someone just got their fists on the inside and just went boom on the window. And that shook me. That was like right by my ear, Like my ear was like ringing a little bit because it was just it was just right there, and everyone was just. Like, what the heck? What the heck? I mean, just run, like we just book. I tell everyone it's gonna go. Let's run. We didn't talk about it for a couple of days, and then Johnny and I meet up again Monday. I saved the night at my dad's house that night. So right after school, I told. Johnny, I'm just like, Okay, I kind of want to go back. I'm curious, you know, I want to see So Johnny and I Monday night is school night, or just like screw it. You know, we don't want to wait till the next weekend till I come back. So we go probably like nine o'clock. The streets are a little dead right now. Like I said, it's a school night to work night. Everyone's relaxing and going to bed. Johnny and I go up to the house. You know, as soon as we set foot on that driveway, it's just the air is like thick. The energy's off. You just have to be there to know what what it feels like. Like, it just feels weird. The vibe is off. Mind you, I grew up Catholic, you know, I grew up going to church every Sunday. You know, my dad made my sister and I. Go to church. His dad, my grandpa made him go to church, and all my other you know, my theos and everything. So I have this cross, like this crucifix depended on my you know, on my chain. I grew up playing baseball, so it's like bats and they make like a crucifix. It's pretty cool. And I had, you know, a little a Bible verse on it, so I'm wearing that and as like protection know, it's it's blessed. We're walking in and we noticed the garage is closed as if someone just walked in there. It's not sensed off, so someone could have easily just walked over there throughout the weekend and just shut it or something. I told Johnny, I said, don't even. Work about the garage. I'm worry more worried about that house because that's where everything was. Right. We're going to the house. And I peeking, said that little hole that was in the window, and I'm shining in my light. Nothing looks like it's moved. Nothing's going on until I hear footsteps yet again, it's the same thing, shuffling, and I'm Johnny heard it too. We're just looking at each other you know, we're frozen because we're just like there's someone in there, but we just cannot see. And that's what's scary in us, is like we can't see what's in there. It looks like a kitchen, you know, because there's a table there, and I see cabinets. That's all we can see. There's there's a whole part of the house that's just board off. We just cannot see it. And there's there's footsteps over there. There's something going on in here. I knew it wasn't a homeless man because it's all boarded off, you know, how the heck can someone get in there? We hear footsteps and then I tell Johnny can lift back up a little bit, and we hear knocking, like it just sounds like knocking on the window. It's like a pattern and it's knocking, and Johnny and I are just are frozen, like we're just like what the heck, Like, what's going on? What's going on? Again? We just hear another bang, and then Johnny and I get scared. We're just like, you know, let's crew this loft, let's run, you know, let's go, because this field is like no one takes care of it. You know, it's all run down. There's like holes inside this field. As we're running away, Johnny steps the one and he twists his ankle. All I hear is I just turn around. All here is like ah my ankle, my ankle, And I was just like, oh shoot. So I turned back around and we hide behind this tractor. You know, I'm looking at his ankle. It looks, you know, it's starting to swallow up, like he twisted his ankle pretty bad. As we're sitting there on the other side of this tractor, we hear footsteps coming up. They just sound heavy, and we're just like, oh shoot, like someone's here. Someone's here. And mind you, our flashlights are off, so it's kind. Of hard to see us. We're all we're wearing black, you know. We didn't want to get spotted by any cars or anything. We just hear footsteps and they stop on the other side of the tractor. Johnny told me he's like, look over, what is. That, you know, check? And I was like, heck, no, like I'm not I'm not doing that. I'm not looking over. You know. If there's there's a dude right there, they're gonna see us. Like I was just too scared, like I did not like I was frozen, like I just couldn't move. Right after we heard footstests and they stopped on the side the tractor. We just hear this deep growl. It just did not sound human, did not sound like a dog. I look at Johnny in his face is white, and then we just ran. We just ran, We ran, and then we did. Not look back. Johnny did not like I guess Johnny had so much adrenaline he did not care about his ankle. He just booked it. I don't know what that was. It did not sound normal. It did not sound like it was something nice, like it wanted us gone. So we ran to the apartments. We talked about it for like ten minutes, and I was like, I want to go to bed. And when we got back to the apartments, my penant, my cross was broken, like it just snapped in half. It's a pretty thick silver like it's strong, like it's gone Caughton on things before and I've yanked it and it's never broken, it's never bent. But this time it broke again. And mind you, it was blessed, and that's what threw me off more. I was just like what, like, how did this break? So that right there just tells me that something at that house is just evil. Something happened there and nobody knows. And I think it has to do something with that morgue, because that morgue is just sitting there, like it just sits there on that same land. The next weekend goes by, I'm back in my dad's apartment. Johnny and I meet up like the playground at the apartment complex, and we're just talking and we're just like, you want to go back with a bunch of people during the day and just see what's going on. Mind you. We told each other we're not going back there again, but we just throughout the whole rest of the week, we just couldn't stop thinking about it. You know. It's just one of those experiences where you just think about it. So we go back. We tell a bunch of people who were just like, hey, if you want to guys, come with us, you know, the same people that experienced it with us, And they're just like, no, we're not doing that. So we're just like, okay, understandable called Johnny and not crazy, but you know, we're gonna go back and see what's going on. So Johnny and I walk back and it's the middle of the day. We did not want to do it at night. Again, we set foot on that driveway and it's the same feeling again. We just get that thick feeling like it just they air just feels thick. It just feels off, and it doesn't feel like something there, whatever is there, does not like us. And it does. It's not welcoming. We didn't even make it into the into the property. We just set foot on that driveway and we're just we look at each other and we're just like, let's go back. You know, we're not doing this. I don't want to do this. I don't know something if people saw us go on that property that day when we went back, but walking past it again, they fenced it off, like the city fenced everything off. The whole piece of land is fenced off. The house, the garage, and that morgue. It's like almost impossible to get in there, like you have to hop the fence. There's some I say, private property, you know, no trespassing. So I don't know what happened there or I don't know if it was like Johnny and I, you know, people saw US, and I called the city like, hey, there's kids going in here, but they fenced it off. Something happened there, and they fence it off. The grass is tall enough to where you can see the grass like over the or the fence like that just shows you no one goes in there. That houses in that mortgage just rotting again. I don't know what happened there, even when I visit there, because I don't live in California anymore, and I live in Utah. When I visit. California and I, you know, drive by that piece of land, it's still fenced off, and it just it's just when you look at it, it just seems, you know, you just get a weird feeling. It's just so off. That's not the only scary experience I've had. The same person, Johnny and I, you know, him and I were just like two peas in a pot, you know, we're just I did everything with that dude in Rancho cook Mona. There's an albur mall called Victoria Gardens. So it was me and Johnny and a bunch of other my you know, elementary school friends that I grew up with. You know, it's summer break. We're just shopping around, walking around. You know, I was a freshman in high school. So this is like around twenty seventeen, twenty eighteen. I'd like to mention. We're in Victoria Gardens. We're just walking around, and then we come across this toy store and we're just like, okay, let's go inside. And Johnny finds. A Ouiji board in this toy store and he's like, look look what I found. Look at I found. I've never seen a Wigi board in person. I don't know why I haven't, but at this point in my life, I've never seen one. So I was like, whoa, you know, that's cool. And I was like, are you gonna buy it? And he's like, honestly, I don't know if my mom will like it, but I'm gonna do it anyway, just because you know, I want to. So later on the day, it's like it's like eight o'clock. I told Johnny, I'm like, you want to play the Luigi board? Now? At Victoria Gardens, there's a Best Pro shop like down the street, and there's like a little like sitting area or I don't know, it's like a little like brass Field, like you know, there's like a sewage pipe or whatever. I don't know, but we go over there and we just it's like right by the fifteen freeway, and we set everything up, you know, we set the board down and the plant chat. They didn't know how to play it, and I knew about this type of stuff, you know, I'm really into the paranormal. So I tell everybody. I'm like, okay, everybody needs two fingers on, and whatever you do, do not take your fingers off, because if you do, we're screwed. So they set the board up. It's me and Johnny and then my friend. All my other friends didn't want to play it. They' chickened out. Understandable. I don't blame them. So it's us too. You know, our fingers are on a plant chet. You know. We're doing a little circle motion, you know, typical weezy board thing, you know. You know, I just like, oh, is there anyone there? Is there? Anyone there? It doesn't move. Nothing happens. About ten minutes. Later, I go, okay, let's do let's do one more time. So we do a circle movement one more time, and then I says anybody there? And then it moves a little bit typical Oiji board. Oh you know, you tell your friends like, oh did you do that? Did you do that? You move it? No? No, no, So that's literally what happens. You know, nobody moves it and it's moving to yes. So I go, okay, you know there's something here that's cool. This is what we're looking for. And then our parents are here to pick this up. So we're just like, okay, you know, we'll do this another time. We'll wait to another weekend. Johnny takes his fingers off without saying goodbye, and I get on him about that. I'm like, what are you doing, Like, you just took your fingers off, and he's like yeah, my mom's here, Like no, man, you gotta say goodbye first and then you take your fingers off. So she's like, oh, okay, okay. So he comes back and he puts his fingers back on and we say goodbye. That right there was the start of something that tormented me throughout twenty twenty four. About a week later, I started feeling like a presence in my room in Utah. It just didn't feel nice. I guess you can say it just didn't feel nice. In twenty twenty, I moved to Utah. Right I moved to Utah, my mom's lease was up at our condo. My stepdad was in Utah. I wanted to play baseball. I was not going to play baseball in Cali. So we packed up and removed. And that's where it really started. The way it made itself known was tapping, like there were I would hear tapping on my closet door, or like tapping on my room door, and I thought it was just my sister messing with me. But little did I know, minde. My dad's in California, so he has a house. Now we're now at the apartments. He lives in Upland, California. He's renting a house with my stepmom. This is during COVID, so I'm online. I'm doing schooling online. My sister and I are going back and forth. My mom's driving us. From California, Utah, Utah and California. And this is when I noticed that whatever is with me is following me. So I would hear stuff in Utah. It would be time to go to my dad's house. We will go to my dad's in California, and I would hear tapping on my window. The house that my dad had. My room was facing the front yard, so my window was facing my windows in the front yard. I would hear tapping on the window. I just thought it was my friend's messing with me because I told him that, Okay, I'm in town. I know it's COVID, but like, let's hang out a little bit, you know. Then I opened the window and there's nothing there. It just kept on going, like from California to Utah, tapping, tapping, tapping, tapping, And then it got worse. I don't know why, it just got worse. I ended up getting night terrors, I got bad sleep paralysis. It just got so bad to the point where I was just so scared to sleep. Two days in a row. I pull one nighter just playing video beames with my friends because, like I said, it's COVID, you know, we're in quarantine. And even then, when I was awake, I just I felt like something was watching me and something was just with me, and it just. Didn't it didn't feel right. It got to the. Point where I was hallucinating because I just couldn't sleep, Like I just wasn't getting sleep. I was hallucinating, I was seeing things until one time, I was just like, screw it, I'm gonna go to bed. I'm gonna sleep, and I'm gonna see what's up. I'm gonna see what's what's gonna happen. That was a mistake of sleeping. I remember vividly. I woke up and I saw myself asleep. I was dreaming, but I saw myself lying in bed and I look over and I'm just like, why am I looking at myself? All of a sudden, I remember, I'm looking at myself, and then my head turns and my eyes open wide, and all of a sudden, my face starts shaking, and it's like my face is blurry, and I'm just looking at myself. I'm just like, what is going on? Like I'm tearing and I can't move. I'm just standing staring at myself, like I just look scary. My face is shaking. I can't see my face. All of a sudden, you know, I see my mouth open wide, and I just like ab normally. And then I wake up and I'm sweating. I look at my phone. It's like three in the morning. I'm like, okay, first time, right there, I'm three in the morning. And then I hear tapping on my closet door. I hear tapping, and I'm just I didn't go back to sleep. It was terrifying. In twenty twenty three, I decided to move back to California. You know, I'm eighteen at this point, so my mom was like, Okay, yeah, you're eighteen. You know, if you want to move, you can move. So I move, and whatever's with me is with me mine. From twenty twenty to twenty twenty three, I would hear tapping. I get sleep prolysis. At this point, it didn't bother me anymore. I was used to it. Whenever her tapping, I was just like, I would say out loud, and I'd be like, I know you're here. I know you're here. You're not scaring me anymore. You just do whatever you want to do. I don't care. It got worse. It started to show itself. I've never seen whatever this is before until I moved back. When I moved back, I didn't move back with my dad. I moved in with his parents, my grandparents. Someone needs to be there with them. You know, they're in their eighties. Someone needs to be with them, be there with them, take care of them, you know, watch the house when they're gone, or just you know, just waunch over them. And I love my grandparents, you know, I adore them. Those are my second parents. I grew up with them. Basically, whenever my mom and dad were gone, I. Was with them. They took care of me and my cousins. So I'm with them. And they're very, very very religious. You know, they're extremely Catholic. Every Sunday they would tell me, oh, me home, you want to go church with us? And I'd just be like, no, I'm okay, I'm okay. So every Sunday they were gone at church. They had crosses around their home. They had thirty bottles of holy water just lined up, so you can bet that house was pretty blessed. So I felt pretty safe and at home. But whatever was following with me knew it couldn't go inside, so it made itself known outside. And that's when I started seeing it. I remember, you know, there'll be times where my friends would be, you know, out, and I would sneak out of the house and this time, my room is in the backyard. I would leave my through the backyard. You know, from my window, I would hear tapping on the patio table and I recognized it and I was like, Okay, it's. Still with me. It's still here, but it cannot go inside the house because it's extremely blessed and it's very Catholic in there. You know, it's just Jesus' paintings and merry paintings. You know, this crosses everywhere. It cannot be inside. I look over to where the tapping is and oh my god. There it is. It's just this tall black figure. I don't even know how to explain it. It's just a tall black figure and I've never seen anything like this before, and it's just tapping. I can see it tapping. I just book it out. I book it out. They get the gate, I'm in the front yard. I hop in my friend's car and I'm like, drive, please drive, please drive, please drive. He's like, what's up, what's up? And then they drive away. And then they told me, they're like, you look like you just. Seen a ghosts And I was like, oh my god, you will never believe what I just seen. You know, I would tell them everything. They didn't believe me at all. They just thought I was just crazy. Then it comes October twenty twenty three. I meet my girlfriend. She starts hearing the tapping when she's with me. She said, every time she was in the backyard trying to get to my window to get in my room, she would feel uneasy, like something's watching her because the backyard's dark. You know, I would only sneak her in when sametime right. She said, it was dark outside, but every single time she would look over to where she felt like something was watching her, it was darker, if that makes any sense, Like it was dark, but whenever she would look, it would just be a dark mass. I didn't want to tell anything because I didn't want her to. Think I was crazy, so I held it off. And then when she started feeling getting that feeling, I couldn't keep it sick anymore. I told her. I was like, hey, you know, I got this attachment, and then I don't want to tell you. I don't want to think, you know, I'm crazy or anything. And she was like, okay, so you have an attachment. That's what I'm feeling right now. It's in the backyard. That's how I feel, and it doesn't like that. I'm with you. She was like, whatever it is, it needs to leave, like it needs to go. I even told her. I was like, do you believe me? Do you think I'm crazy? She was like, yeah, I believe you. And when she said that, I was like, oh no, I really hope whatever this is doesn't attack her, it doesn't hurt her, you know. I just I don't want anything hurting my girlfriend. And mind you, whatever was following me, it didn't hurt me. It just torment to me. It just spooked me. It just bugged me. That's really what it was. It was like a like a sibling I never had. It just bugged me. It was everywhere away and it was annoying. It's twenty twenty four and it's I think it's. Like like May. Schools out for everybody else. It's summer break for everybody. So her and I were hanging out with a bunch of our friends and we come back to my house. It's very quiet outside. Her and I just talking. We're looking at the stars. You know, it's a nice, cool night. It's time to say goodbye, and I don't want her to leave, so I'm just like, you know, you want to spend the night this and that, and she's like, you know what, I will. And then as we're heading back, inside I freeze. I don't really remember. For me, I just went black and then the lights came back on, like I just blacked out for a second, and then I was frozen. What my girlfriend told me was when I was frozen, I was crying. In my perspective, I remember crying and she was like, what's. Going on, What's going on? What's going on? Like are you okay? You okay? And I was hyperventilating, you know, I was like breathing heavily, and she was like, oh my god, Oh my god, like what's going on? Are you okay? And then I just remember the hair on the back of my neck standing And then she told me, she. Was like, is it here? Is it here? This isn't the first time that this has happened to me where I froze and I've not cried, but I just frozen. I just started hyperventilating. She knew what was up. She's just give me a hug, you know, she's telling me. She's whispering her and she's like, everything's okay, everything's okay. You're okay, You're okay, You're okay. You know it's not gonna hurt you. You know, we're about to go inside. Here gonna be safe. But it wasn't until when she looked over my shoulder. All I hear from her she says, oh my god. As soon as she said that, I was like, what what what? And she's like, I see it. I see it. I see it. I see it. I see it. I'm looking right at it and it's looking right at me. And I was like, we need to get inside the house now because it's it can't go inside, you know, Like I said, the house is blessed, there's crosses everywhere, the holy water. It cannot go inside. And I turn around and there it is. It's standing underneath this light post on the street, and it's just staring at us, just not moving. I don't know what the heck this thing is. It's just looking at us. It doesn't don't look nice, but it's just it's just staring at us. We grab our things and we run inside the house. And as we get inside the house, the front door it's like one of those doors where it's like it's got that stained blast where you can see outside a little bit, you know, like if someone was knocking the door. And you can see their silhouette. I look through the door and I see the silhouette of whatever this is right at the door. That was just chilling. That right there just set it off for me. And I was just like, I cannot do this anymore. I cannot do this anymore. I started praying more. I was still religious, you know, I believed in God and Jesus, you know, I was Catholic, but I hadn't gone to church and I don't even know like years, and I wasn't praying, you know, I wasn't wearing my crosspen anymore. I just wasn't really all there religiously. And I started praying, and I told my girlfriend, I know, I know you're not religious. I know you're not Catholic or anything. You never made the Holy community, but just pray with me. Pray, pray, pray. So we pray. We're just praying and praying and praying. I think it was like thirty minutes we're just praying, and I was just like, I need to get this gone, like whatever it is, like it needs to leave. It's affecting my girlfriend. Now, it's affecting my relationship. We're inside, you know, we're so safe, and we go to bed. The next morning, I sneak her back out and then we see on her car, like this handprint on her window because her car is pretty dirty. And I told her, I was like, is that your hand? And she's like no, and she's like, is that you? Like? Did you rest your hand on my window? And I do it. I put my hand next to the handprint and that handprint was way much bigger than mine. So whatever it was or whatever was following us, marked its hand on her car and night right there. I was like, Okay, that's not a good sign because it's probably gonna attach yourself to you now. So I go inside and I grab one of the Holy Waters and I just I dumped that whole bottle all over he car, like I'm just spraying that all. Over a car. After that, it just disappeared like it just stopped like here and there. I will get, you know, the hair on back of my neck would stand. I will get that same feeling something's watching me. But it wasn't as bad anymore. You know, here we are in twenty twenty six. It's gone. I've never touched the Wigi board since I don't recommend it to anyone. Please, no one play the Uigi board. That is not fun. Josh, thank you so much for sharing your experiences with us here at the True Scary Story Community. I think what made it there's several stories kind of like this, but what makes it really eerie is when you go back to a place that already scared you. Some of us may be wondering, why would you do that? Why would you go back? Or like when you hear somebody knocking on the door and they're like, don't open it, and you have to open it. Sometimes you get that pool to go and visit a place that already freaked us out or a place that we said we were never going to go to. And it can go for other things too, like, for example, when we had it, I don't know, a bad time at high school and we choose to go back to just to visit it to see what it was like, or to see what it's like now. Or maybe an old car, a junk yard, a place where we grew up. Like these places, it seems like a similar thing that we do when we go to a place. That already scared us. Why do we keep going back? And there's a supernatural factor to it, right, Is it curiosity or is it something pulling you, telling you, hey, come back, come back here, We're not done. But when we hear these kinds of stories, right, there's always all these ideas like could it be something like an animal that's trapped inside or maybe I don't know, an access point where people can get in there but you can't see them and they're trying to get your attention, that somebody's trying to prank you. But then we end up with these things like the growl, the broken cross, all these recurring lights and the changing curtains that are you know, years later, the things that are changing now. These things are interesting because it opens up a bunch of possibilities. Maybe somebody is maintaining the property, maybe there's something else going on.
