The Peekaboo Man: Who is Watching You Right Now?

Some people experience one strange moment in their lives, others grow up surrounded by them. From a childhood encounter involving a skeletal face at a bedroom window to years of shadow figures, unseen hands, and voices coming from empty rooms, this episode follows one listener’s lifelong relationship with the unexplained. As an adult, the activity intensifies, focused around a single presence that peers from doorways and vanishes when noticed.

Suddenly the door slams shut on his fingers, and we both are putting all of our strength into trying to push and pull the store off his hand. And it's just not budging. It's not moving from. A haunted childhood in rural Ontario to a home stopped by something known as. The peekaboo man that is known in the area. I should make you wonder are you being watched right now? My name is Edward, and here is Alex. It's true scary story. I think the time I started understanding there were other things in this world and that I was sensitive towards them is around two thousand and six. I would be around six. This time, I lived in a small town in Ontario, Canada. I lived in a house just off of the highway. The house that I lived in was like kind of one of those box houses. There was a loft area that was holding my dad's office, my two siblings rooms, and then downstairs was my one brother's room and my parents room, then my room. My window in my room faced the highway. So one night I was getting ready for bed and I was laying down watching the lights from the passing cars through my window. I looked away for a second to RecA outrate myself and maybe get ready to close my eyes. When I turned back to the window and I saw a skeleton had I called for my dad, very scared. My dad came rushing into the room and I told him like I saw skeletons at my window. I didn't know how else to describe it. So then my dad went back to his room and brought in some holy water and blessed my windows and my door, and then pulled out a Teddy ruckspin and put on a tape for me to fall asleep too. Little did I know this was the start of many other encounters that I would have in my life. Everything was pretty calm after that. For a while. We had moved a couple houses and there were no incident and throughout those times, and before I knew it, my two siblings had moved away, my two oldest siblings. It was just me, my brother, my mom, and my dad left in the house and we were living in a three bedroom basement apartment. My brother and my dad had their own rooms, while me and my mom shared a room with a king sized bed. I had just started high school, so this was when I was like fourteen. I had this alarm clock speaker with an attachment for an iPod I had gotten many years ago, and I had no other alarm clock, so I was just using that one. But it had this screen that displayed the time that was right. It was super bright and it was blue. I had school the next morning, so I left the alarm clock uncovered so I could see the time, and i'd laid down and closed my eyes. I was laying there and I can still kind of see the light. Suddenly the light just disappeared, and I was like, oh, okay, maybe it's my mom checking on me or something like that. So I opened my eyes and I see this woman standing over me, eyes wide, gaunt, face, mouth dropped open, long hair, and she's just staring at me. I notice that she has these long curled fingernails as well. She starts bringing her hands up to my face. I'm still staring at her. She hasn't blinked, she hasn't anything. As she's bringing her hands up to my face. I close my eyes because I get really scared, and I'm about to call it to my mom. Suddenly, after I close my eyes, she's gone. She isn't there anymore. The light comes back and everything's fine, and I roll over just to see if my mom's there, and she is. I take some deep breaths to steady my breathing. I didn't see or hear anything else the rest of the night. A couple months later, my dad was out at work, my mom was at school, and my brother was out at school. I believe I think I had stayed home for the day. It was a particularly hot day. I was laying on the floor in my dad's room because the floor was hardwood, so it was nice and cold. On the family laptop. I was watching some NCIS and suddenly the room got rather cold. I don't know how else to explain it. It's just it got really cold for a very hot day. I brushed it off, thinking maybe the family upstairs turned on the air conditioning. Finally, I closed my eyes. When I start to notice that I've moved to little bit, I think, okay, maybe maybe I moved and didn't realize it once. Suddenly I start to feel like a pulling on my leg. I kind of pushed myself back a little bit with my feet, thinking okay, maybe I'm just having like some growing pains or something like that. Suddenly I start being just pulled towards the closet, this open closet my dad had. I am like trying to push myself away from whatever is pulling me. Once I was at the front of the closet, I screamed stopped. As soon as I yelled for it to stop, suddenly everything was over. I scrambled to my feet and I run out of the room. I go lay down on the couch as that's where I had moved to sleep. Then suddenly we were getting evicted. So my dad and brother they decided to move away to a different town and me and my mom got a few years of peace after we moved to a couple different places. We moved to the house I currently live in in twenty eighteen. The first night here is where we set up our rooms. We just moved all the boxes and everything, and everything was all set up finally for us to be able to get rid and go to sleep. My partner at the time and I had our beds set up close to the two door closet that we had. We kept one cracked open because we had a couple of boxes in there and we couldn't fully close the door. It was just for the night, so it wasn't a big deal. He decided to go to bed early as we'd been moving all day, so I was up just scrolling away on my phone. I decided to put my phone down and lay down and go to sleep, and I rolled away from the closet. I closed my eyes and started to drift off when I hear a little boy's voice coming from the closet, saying hello in a questioning tone. My eyes open and I turned to the closet. I checked mine and my partner's phone at the time to double check to see if there was something playing on either of our phones, which there wasn't. I checked in the closet to see if there was any reason for the voice, if I could figure out if it was just something making that sound. There was no reason for the voice. There were no children in the house, there was no videos playing, no reason for this disembodied voice coming from the closet. A couple of years have passed and I moved downstairs into the finished basement. There's an unfinished area where the washer and dryer are, where it's closed off by a door, and then if you turn left, there's a back room area that we kind of used for storage for a little bit, and then another finished room off to the left where my cosplays stuff and my mom's sewing stuff went. One night, my partner and I at the time were having a pretty nasty fight. We were kind of yelling at each other, and in the heat of the moment, my partner had taken these two steps towards me. Suddenly, as we're like yelling at each other, something pushes him back and pushes him to the ground. We both kind of stare at each other a little stunned, and I go to start to help him up, and something starts to push and drag him towards my makeup vanity and just rows his body into the side of it. We both looked at each other, absolutely freaked out, absolutely stunned. I help him up. After that, we decide that's enough for tonight. We both think maybe it's just been a long night, hoping that we were just both having a moment. We go to brush our teeth. I'm standing outside the bathroom and he's standing with his hands inside the doorway. Suddenly the door slam shut on his fingers, and we both are putting all of our strength into trying to push and pull the store off of his hand, and it's just not budging, it's not moving. We're putting in all of our strength to do this and try and get it off, and it just wouldn't It just wouldn't budge. Finally, eventually we do get the door to let go and just release him, so I end up banishing up his fingers and everything like that. We did talk about it being paranormal. I talked about my my couple stories that I've had like that I've dealt with in the past, and we talked about this being an experience that I've never experienced before. Besides myself, I've never seen anything happen to anybody else. I think we both kind of went to bed in complete shock. I actually had a friend of mine stay on the couch here. The couch is upstairs in the living room. My friend actually told me he couldn't sleep because there was a full body apparition just staring at him. He said it didn't feel malicious, it didn't feel like it didn't want him there or anything. It just was curious. And that makes a lot lot of sense that there's things that are just kind of curious to new people. And its surroundings. Everything calmed down for a couple of years after that person moved out of my house. But a few years later, which is twenty twenty four, my current partner moves in and we had a friend of ours move into the unfinished back room area. That's when we noticed him. We noticed this shadow figure that would peek out of my mom's sewing room, or even if you were in the sewing room, it would peek in at you. We decided to start calling him the peak Man because that's all that he does is he just peeks around corners at you. He mostly hangs out in my mom's sewing room and he doesn't really bother you outside of their I think he just likes the social aspect of being around people and just being included. My friend has seen him like we even set up a door for him because from the back room area you can literally see into my mom's sewing room and that's the area that he likes to peek at you from. And my friend has seen him a couple times and he jumped out of his skin. We did notice that a couple months later, after my friend had moved out, that he started moving more into my room. We have these two wardrobes set up as kind of like a door between our bed and the stairs. One night, my partner and I are watching TV. We're watching a show and we look over for a second at the secondary wardrobe and we notice him. He moves away. The second that we notice him. Both my partner and I look at each other and we're just like We start making jokes about it, as it's kind of our humor. It's just how we deal with it. At this point is we're like, oh, he's here. Then my partner gets up to go to the bathroom and I'm like, Okay, I'm gonna keep watching the show. After I hear the door close to the bathroom, I see this full body apparition of a shadow girl and she's running between from behind our TV to behind the secondary wardrobe, and I hear some little giggles as she's running by. My skin started to crawl. I called out for my partner and I was like, is that you like, hoping that he was somehow playing some really elaborate prank on me. But then after a bit I hear him open the door. I decide to tell him everything and he kind of laughs it off. Because that's how he is, and I'm I'm freaked out. But that's kind of where everything has stopped for the area. Actually, it's pretty well known for the peekaboo man. I've talked to a couple of friends who've lived in this area and they've had very similar experiences with shadow figures peeking at them. He kind of leaves us alone for the most part. My dad and I are both sensitive to them. My dad and I exchange ghost stories all the time. He's more of the if it doesn't bug me, I don't have to cast them out. I also go ghost hunting with friends, and things do follow me back every once in a while, even though I tell them not too. They're just naturally drawn to that energy. I'm more of a spiritual person and like, I don't mind them as long as they're not being malicious or anything. But I do believe that the thing that attacked my ex partner, I believe it was my grandma. To be very honest, I believe she was just trying to protect me.
